Missouri Mansions Series

The Mansion

The Bond Mansion is a beautiful Victorian-era home in Mexico, Missouri. The historic house is known for its grandeur and was considered one of the finest homes in Missouri when it was built in 1941. The home also has a political history. This is where former Senator Christopher “Kit” Bond launched his political career and was his refuge from the stress of public life.

The home was build for Bond’s parents by A.P. Green, who was the founder of the world’s largest fire brick company in the world and based in Mexico. The home is more than 12,000 square feet and has 6 bedrooms, 8.5 bathrooms, and expansive living and entertaining areas spread over more than 11 acres.

Bond sold the home several years ago and it became a Bed and Breakfast. It was later sold again and remains in private hands.

The home was listed for $650,000 and 2017, then again for $1.3-million in 2024. Real estate analysts point out that if this house had been in a larger city in Missouri, it likely would have been sold for several million dollars. Regardless, it is still one of the largest homes in the state and one of the most elegant in small-town Missouri.
