Jones Mansion in Ladue

The massive mansion in Ladue known as the Chateau Deux Sources is one of the biggest homes in the state of Missouri. The residence boasts more than 30,000-square feet of living space on 4 acres and has more amenities than you could ever list on paper. Chateau Deux Sources is french for Castle of the Springs, which is appropriate because the home sits on Twin Springs Lane and it is quite the estate. But most people know the home as The Jones Mansion in Ladue because it was the residence of the man behind Jones Pharmaceuticals.

The home is not far from Old Warson Country Club at 1700 South Warson Road. It features 6 bedrooms, 14 bathrooms, 16 fireplaces, cozy sitting rooms, a massive entertaining area, vaulted ceilings, formal living and dining areas, and a magnificent staircase. (Note: Property tax records report 20,620 sq ft) But those are the things you expect to see inside a home like this. But this mansion goes to the next level when you include:

Bowling Alley
  • Two-lane bowling alley
  • Racquetball court
  • Spa and Salon
  • 5,000-bottle wine cellar with tasting room
  • Dance parlour
  • Private movie theater that seats 16 people comfortably.
  • Two-story foyer with floating double staircases
  • Elevator
  • Two-story great room with three sets of French doors
  • Two-story formal dining room with fireplace
  • Gourmet kitchen and butler’s pantry
  • Breakfast room
  • Wood paneled library with fireplace and coffered ceiling
  • Party room with 21-foot wet bar
  • Six-car garage
  • Pool house residence
Study

In fact, it was the largest home in St. Louis when it was built and many neighbors in the wealthy suburb of Ladue thought it was “too big”, even in a area with numerous homes over 10,000 square feet.

Keeping Up With The Jones

Staircase

Dennis Jones sold Jones Phara for $3.4-billion back in the year 2000. So the family certainly had the money to build the French-inspired estate. It hit the market several years later with a price tag of $10.75-million, but eventually sold for a reported $5.7-million in 2018. You could say it’s a castle fit for a king and it has hosted “royalty.” Famous names from around the globe stayed and played in the home including two presidents (The Bush’s) during their trips to Missouri.
