Truman Sports Complex
The Truman Sports Complex is a sports facility located in Kansas City. It is named after Harry S. Truman, the 33rd President of the United States, who was born in nearby Independence. The complex is home to two major professional sports venues: Arrowhead Stadium, the home stadium of the National Football League’s Kansas City Chiefs, and Kauffman Stadium, the home stadium of Major League Baseball’s Kansas City Royals.
Arrowhead Stadium, which opened in 1972, is one of the most iconic football stadiums in the United States. It has a seating capacity of over 76,000 spectators and has been the site of numerous NFL games, including playoff matches and the annual AFC Championship Game in 2020 and 2021. Arrowhead Stadium has a reputation for its passionate and loud fan base, often referred to as the “Loudest Stadium in the World.”

Kauffman Stadium, formerly known as Royals Stadium, opened in 1973 and underwent renovations in the 2000s. It has a seating capacity of around 37,000 spectators and has hosted numerous memorable moments in baseball, including the Kansas City Royals’ World Series victories in 1985 and 2015. The stadium features unique outfield fountains and is known for its family-friendly atmosphere.
Both stadiums are located side by side within the Truman Sports Complex and share parking lots and other facilities. The complex is situated near Interstate 70, making it easily accessible for fans attending games and events.
