Missouri has a vibrant sports culture with enthusiastic fans supporting various professional and college teams. Some of the most popular sports in Missouri include:
- Baseball: Missouri is home to the St. Louis Cardinals, a Major League Baseball (MLB) team. The Cardinals have a rich history and a dedicated fan base. Meanwhile, the Kansas City Royals have also made World Series appearances, notably winning the I-70 Series over the Cardinals.
- Football: Football is immensely popular in Missouri, especially with the presence of the Kansas City Chiefs, an NFL team based in Kansas City. The Chiefs have a passionate following in the state.
- Basketball: College basketball has a significant following in Missouri, especially with teams like the University of Missouri Tigers and the St. Louis University Billikens. Missouri State University, Lindenwood University, Southeast Missouri State, and the University of Missouri-Kansas City also have Division I basketball teams. Additionally, the state has a history of professional basketball teams as well.
- Ice Hockey: The St. Louis Blues, an NHL team, call Missouri home. Ice hockey has a solid fan base in the state, especially in the St. Louis area.
- Soccer: Soccer is growing in popularity across the United States, and Missouri is no exception. The state has several professional and semi-professional soccer teams, including Saint Louis City SC and Sporting Kansas City (based in Kansas City but with a regional following).
- College Sports: College sports, particularly football and basketball, attract a significant amount of attention and support from residents across the state.
