Kansas City International Airport (MCI) is a major airport serving the Kansas City metropolitan area. It is commonly referred to as KCI or KCI Airport. The revolutionary circular design got world wide attention when it was built. But that design became outdated as security concerns be more pervasive.

One of the unique characteristics of KCI Airport is its single-terminal design. Most major airports have a central hub layout. The terminals at KCI were designed to be different though. They are separate structures, which some travelers found convenient for short walking distances between gates.
