Kansas City International Airport (MCI) is a major airport serving the Kansas City metropolitan area. It is commonly referred to as KCI or KCI Airport. It’s revolutionary circular design got world wide attention when it was built, but became outdated as security concerns be more pervasive. One of the unique characteristics of KCI Airport is its single-terminal design. Unlike most major airports with a central hub layout, the terminals are separate structures, which some travelers found convenient for short walking distances between gates. Kansas City unveiled its new $1.5-billion terminal early in 2023.
