Chingy has earned success as a group member and solo artist over the past few
years on the rap scene. He hit the charts in 2003 with his song, “Right Thurr,”
keeping St. Louis rappers at the top of the charts. The song received a large
amount of airplay in the southern United States originally, but it eventually
reached the whole country and landed at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
He followed the success of the first hit with the songs “Holidae Inn” and “One
Call Away,” and then the album Powerballin. He expanded his success with collaborative
efforts with other major stars. In 2005, he teamed up with Janet Jackson
for “Don’t Worry,” followed in 2006 with Tyrese in “Pullin’ Me Back,” Jermaine
Dupri with “Dem Jeans,” and Amerie in 2007 on “Fly Like Me.” He has also
branched out into acting, appearing in My Wife and Kids, The George Lopez Show, and
Scary Movie 4.
