Bill Chott
Bill Chott is an American actor and comedian best known for his role as Mr. Laritate in the Wizards of Waverly Place on Disney Channel and saw viral success as the postman on This Is Us, along fellow Missourian Sterling K. Brown. Chott grew up in the St. Louis area and graduated from Ritenour High School he was inducted into the school’s hall of fame for his tremendous success. He continued performing while at Central Methodist University in Fayette, with starring roles in both comedic and dramatic plays and musicals.
Chott moved to Chicago in 1992 and got into improvisational theater at various comedy clubs, then made the big jump and joined The Second City comedy troupe, where he studied with people such as Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
Career
Chott toured the country with the Second City, where he appeared in New York City in 1995 on The Dana Carvey Show. Working with fellow castmate Robert Smigel, he was cast as the announcer for the animated short The Ambiguously Gay Duo. His movies include Galaxy Quest, Dude Where’s My Car, Brainwarp, Dante’s Inferno, Wild Girls Gone, Dancing at the Blue Iguana and The Ringer.
Some of his television appearances include The Dana Carvey Show, Third Rock from the Sun, Freaks and Geeks, Popular, ER, Wizards of Waverly Place, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Monk, and This Is Us.
