Tallest Skyscrapers in Missouri

One Kansas City Place KCMO
One Kansas City Place

Missouri love affair with skyscrapers began with the construction of the Wainwright Building in downtown St. Louis.  The 10-story skyscraper was completed in 1891 and towered over the surrounding buildings.  It was one of the first true skyscrapers, built during a time when St. Louis was one of the largest cities in America and growing rapidly. Since then, dozens of buildings have been built and included in the tallest skyscrapers in Missouri.

One Kansas City Place in downtown Kansas City now reigns as the tallest skyscraper in Missouri. It was completed in 1988, followed one year later by One Metropolitan Square in St. Louis as the second tallest in the state in 1989.
