What are the best hometowns in Missouri? Of course, there are sure to be hundreds of opinions from people across the state. But when you take out the local bias, we get a look at the best of the best.
This new study by All Star Home has ranked “America’s Best Hometowns” and Missouri is well represented on the list. In fact, the Show Me State is one of the few states to have more than one city on the list. The home improvement website looked at things like “small town” charm, a strong sense of community, affordability, safety, education, and other factors.
It was a lot of data to crunch from towns across the country, but these are the three Missouri towns made the list.
Hannibal
Kirksville
Saint Joseph
One interesting thing about the Missouri towns on the list is they all lie along the “Genius Highway.” That is what Missouri Highway 36 is called across the northern tier of the state due to the number of highly successful people that have come from towns along that roadway.
Although some might argue with the definition of small town, these towns all fall within the parameters set out by the survey. Hannibal and Kirksville are both under 20,000 residents, while St. Joseph is over 70,000.
Hannibal also ranked in the Top 10 of the overall “best hometown” rankings.
